Your Data
How to see, download, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. Most of it you can do yourself in a minute; for the rest, email us.
1. Download your data
Signed in, go to Account and choose Download my data. You get a JSON file with your profile, linked sign-in methods, active sessions, two-factor status, threads, posts, votes, reports you filed, any bans on your account, and waitlist signups or contact messages made with your account email. Secrets such as session tokens and two-factor keys are left out on purpose.
2. Correct your data
You can change your display name on the Account page and edit your own posts in the community. To change the email address on your account, or correct anything else, email devtmj@apeironlabs.tech.
3. Delete your account
On the Account page, type DELETE and choose Delete account. This takes effect immediately and:
- removes your profile, sessions, linked sign-in methods, two-factor data, votes and any ban records;
- erases the text of every post you wrote, leaving a “This post was deleted” placeholder so other people's replies still make sense;
- keeps the titles of threads you started, shown as by “deleted”, and reports you filed, without a link to you;
- keeps internal audit log entries, which record security and moderation events, without a link to your profile.
Waitlist signups and contact messages are not tied to an account. To have those removed, email devtmj@apeironlabs.tech from the address you used.
4. Other requests
Depending on where you live, laws such as Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, the EU and UK GDPR and California's CCPA may give you further rights, including to know what we hold and why, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To use any of them, email devtmj@apeironlabs.tech with the subject “Data request”.
- Send it from the email address the request is about, so we can confirm it is you. We may ask for more if we cannot.
- We aim to respond within 21 days. If a request is complex we will tell you why and how long it will take.
- Requests are free. We may refuse requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, and will explain why.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
5. More detail
The Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why and for how long, and the Subprocessors page lists the services that process it for us.
