Install & build MythBrowse
How MythBrowse is built from source, and its runtime options.
No public download yet
Pre-built installers are coming soon. The source repository is currently private; the steps below describe how the project builds for those with access.
Build from source
Servo needs native build tools; see the Servo book for the packages each OS needs. The Rust toolchain is pinned in rust-toolchain.toml.
cargo build --release # builds mythbrowse (full Servo build, slow)
cargo run --release -- servo.org # open a URL
Test only the light crates, without compiling Servo:
cargo test -p mythbrowse-ai -p mythbrowse-blocker -p mythbrowse-compat -p mythbrowse-sync -p mythbrowse-storage
cargo test -p mythbrowse-engine --no-default-features
Windows package
The Windows zip carries ANGLE's libEGL.dll and libGLESv2.dll (required graphics libraries) and the MSVC runtime. Keep them next to the exe.
Logs and errors
Windows release builds have no console window. Logs go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\MythBrowse\logs\mythbrowse.log (Linux: ~/.local/share/mythbrowse/logs/). Start-up failures and crashes show an error dialog. Run mythbrowse.exe --console (or set MYTHBROWSE_CONSOLE=1) to print logs to the terminal instead.
